University of Tartu Art Museum / Description

University of Tartu Art Museum is the oldest museum in Estonia, which was founded in 1803. Museum has well- preserved interior with Pompeian paintings from the 19th century, to which colourful appearance has a contrast of white plaster imprints of an ancient more- outstanding sculptures. In the museum you can often see various changing expositions and different events, that take place. It is possible to participate in museum- hours and workshops, that offers you a great chance to acquire knowledges of ancient world, to be engaged in vase painting, plastering etc. Museum also gives a chance to make acquaintance with Festive Hall and Lock- up of University’s main building.
