Keila parish is located in the western part on Harju county, northwest from Tallinn, on the coast of the Gulf on Finland. The rural municipality center is located in Keila town. The distance from Tallinn is 27 km, from the city of Saue 7 km and from the city of Paldiski 22 km. The neighbors are: Harku parish, Saue parish and Keila town in the east, Kernu, Vasalemma and Padise parishes in the south, the city of Paldiski in the west. The relief is characteristic to the coastal area. The parish is bordered by Keila river in the east and Vasalemma river in the west.
The area of Keila parish is 179 km2. The number of inhabitants is 4 295, but this number increases 4 times in summer. The bigger settlements are Klooga, Lehola, Keila-Joa and Karjaküla.
Keila parish consists of 19 villages and 3 small towns. The parish has set the organization of infrastructure, establishment and preservation of clean nature and environment, promotion of cultural and educational life of the parish as the objectives of its activities. In creating an everyday working and living environment, the best possible is expected to do in the conditions of limited resources.
The principle of balanced development, where public interests are the priority, is followed in the management of the parish.
The vicinity of Tallinn is a valuable aspect to the location of the parish as it offers jobs as well as the satisfaction of cultural interests to the inhabitants of the parish.
Approximately 3000 urban families have built their summerhouses to the beautiful coastal area of the parish.
