Am Fuß der Treppe fesselt die Skulptur "Der Läufer" Ihren Blick. (Bildhauer Riho Kuld u. Ülo Stöör). Sie symbolisiert den Sieger im traditionellen “Wettlauf um den Viljandi-See”, der seit 1928 jährlich veranstaltet wird. Die Skulptur, gefertigt von Bildhauer M. Karmin, wurde vor der Markthalle in Tartu am 17.01.2008 aufgestellt. Ein Stahlfass steht auf dem Granitblock. Die Inschrift darauf teilt mit, dass der Eröffnungstag 17. Januar der Tónise-Tag / Taliharja im Volkskalender ist. An diesem Tag stand bei alten Esten das Schwein im Mittelpunkt.
