US tourists lured by promises of safety

A joint business mission of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland is taking place in the US on May 15-19. The Lithuanian State Tourism Department, the travel agencies Liturimex Travel Service and Lithuanian Tours and the airline flyLAL will represent Lithuania in the mission, which will take place in California. The aim is to introduce the residents of the West Coast to tourism in these countries, make contacts and advertise the Baltics and Poland as a safe and attractive country for tourists. In 2005, 35,700 Americans visited Lithuania, 20 percent more than the previous year.
