Tallinn New Year Bach Music Festival

19.12.2011
Tallinn New Year Bach Musical Festival will take place in Tallinn from January, 1st till January, 7th, 2012 for the first time. Estonian famous organist Andres Uibo came out with the idea of such festival several years ago. Realization of this idea became possible thanks to close cooperation of Tallinn Mayor’s Office, concert bureau Ars Musica Estonica and Art Museum of Estonia.

Tallinn New Year Bach Musical Festival has grown from a series of daily organ concerts which are held during the first week of January in the famous Tallinn Niguliste museum. We hope that henceforth the festival will become a tradition and an original, warm and beautiful New Year's greeting of Tallinn to all the inhabitants and visitors of our capital. After all what can be better than spending the first week of the new year surrounded by the music of one of the best world-known composers?

During the first Tallinn New Year's Festival 6 evening and 6 day concerts will be held. More than 25 known musicians among which are Andres Uibo, Toomas Trass, Ulla Krigul, Andres Mustonen, Mari-Liis Uibo, Arvo Leibur, Tõnis Kaumann, Ka Bo Chan, Oksana Sinkova, Heiki Mätlik and others will perform on these concerts. The concerts program presents all the variety of Johann Sebastian Bach’s most famous masterpieces: monumental organ works, violin sonatas, partitas for a violoncello, orchestral suites, a concert for two violins with an orchestra as well as arias from Christmas oratorio and Mass in b minor.
