In Open Air Museum You can see Estonian vernacular architecture and village milieu from the 18-20th centuries, 74 furnished buildings in a beautiful 72 ha forest park (the guidebook of the exposition is being sold in the entrance hall of the museum)

About Museum:
The Estonian Open Air was founded in 1957 and opened to the visitors in 1964.
Old Estonian vernacular buildings together with exhibited commodities help to depict the daily life of peasants in the 18-20th centuries. The territory of the museum is divided into four parts of corresponding typical village types: Western Estonia, Northern Estonia, Southern Estonia and the islands. In each region farmyards of different wealth and age stand in the central position. There are twelve farmyards exhibited today. In order to create a true rural milieu, a church, an inn, a schoolhouse, several mills, a fire station and net sheds on the coast have also been transferred to the museum.
The museum attempts to give a complete picture of the Estonian village. Different activities and celebrating traditional calendar holidays bring more life to the farmyards and add a special touch to the village atmosphere.
