Linette / Description

The story of Linette started in December 1940 when some entrepreneurial people pooled their finance and know-how and decided to establish an artel called Võit (meaning „victory“). The focus was first laid on making light clothes for women, men and children, but in 1956 it was decided that the company should specialise in making women’s lingerie. Our cooperation with demanding Western-European clients that started in 1985, already before the Soviet era was over, has taught us how to make beautiful, comfortable underclothes of high quality for all types of women.

In 1991, Linette was privatised together with six other pioneering companies all over the former Soviet Union. In December 1991, the company was renamed Linette. In spring 1992, our first retail store opened in Müürivahe Street; today Linette has eight stores all over Estonia.

In 1993, cooperation with Miss Mary of Sweden, a Swedish lingerie brand, started. We still work closely together with this company offering comfort and a wide variety of lingerie items, available also in larger sizes. In fact, most of the globally sold products carrying the trademark of Miss Mary of Sweden have been made by Linette.

During the Soviet period and at the beginning of the independence era, Linette’s production was made in 14 different locations all over Tallinn, but most of the facilities were unfit for the work. In 1991, when Estonia had regained its independence, construction and renovation works started on a new building. In 1994, Linette moved to a new production facility of 6800 m² at Lasnamäe where brand new equipment had also been installed.

Today, many women nearly everywhere in the world wear lingerie items designed and made by Linette – either directly or via various retailers, we have brought joy to women not only in Estonia, but also in the United States, France, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Latvia, Russia, the United Kingdom, and many others.
