The Toy Museum / Description

The Toy Museum, located in the heart of Tartu’s Old Town in an old-fashioned wooden building, takes adults back into the happy days of their childhood and offers children exciting things to see and do.
There are toys on permanent display with which local children have played in different epochs, and there are also exhibitions of artistic dolls, souvenir dolls of different peoples of the world and traditional toys of the Finno-Ugric peoples. Special play and workshop rooms are open, and display rooms offer interesting activities as well. The museum organises rotating exhibitions and children’s events.
The cinema and theatre puppets house of Tartu Toy Museum will be opened in the end of 2005. There will be displayed the puppets and props from the animated films and puppet theatre plays made in Estonia in the last 50 years, the traditional theatre puppets all over the world; also the programme about the history of cinema will be introduced to the children.
