Valaste Waterfall / Description
Valaste waterfall is the highest in the Baltic States. The cascade is most impressive in springtime. The waterfall is still actively shaping its profile. It has created a "fresh" outcrop and, therefore, is very interesting to geologists. The waterfall is getting taller - the falling water is wearing out its base. Opposite to the waterfall a platform for tourists has been built. The local Russian community has a tradition of attaching a padlock to the platform on the wedding day and throwing the key into the ravaging waters. There is a parking lot, some explanatory signs, and a very well made trail using a double spiral staircase to get down the cliff.Write a review
