Von Krahli Teater / DescriptionThe Von Krahl Theatre was created in 1992, when experimental theatre group Ruto Killakund and it’s leader Peeter Jalakas made the change in their up till then nomadic lifestyle and became resident. From the beginning of the existence the Von Krahl Theatre has been active in two directions: as theatre-group, making and playing performances and as an administrative unit that is producing performances and organising quest performances and festivals.
Since 1998 theatre has its own permanent troup of actors. The works of the troup of VKT have been constant source of enjoyment for the audience in Estonia and abroad.
Through years has the Von Krahl Theatre also been the venue for contemporary dance groups. In the rooms of VKT is working 2. Tants (2. Dance Promotion) that is producing contemporary dance performances and organsing quest performances.
One of the characteristic words for the works of Von Krahl Theatre is innovation. The expression contemporary theatre means for us more than just aggressive tone, fashionable costumes and video screening on the wall. Rather is it a challenge for taking risks, making questionable the different art forms, styles, conventional contexts and conceptions.
Inevitably means the contemporarity in theatre also social alertness, for keeping that up we also have to thank the legendary bar that is operating downstairs of our theatre building.
In different times the Von Krahl Theatre has been characterized with the words: poor theatre, experimental theatre, private theatre, multimedia theatre, movement theatre, folklore theatre, music theatre, fair theatre, dance theatre, social theatre. We would discard all these epithets, leaving modestly only one: vivid theatre.
