Estonian Air passenger growth almost doubles the market

Estonian Air carried altogether 63 946 passengers in March 2008, out of which 53 778 on regular flights. The total number of passengers increased 16.3% y-o-y, while Tallinn Airport passenger number increased by 9.9%. The number of passengers on regular flights increased 13%.

The overall number of passengers in the first quarter of 2008 was 163 230, which is 17% higher y-o-y.

“More attractive destinations and an increased demand in Estonia for travelling abroad are the main drivers behind the growth,” comments Peter Arvidsson, Vice Precident Commercial of Estonian Air.

In late March and early April two new destinations were added to the route network – Munich and Rome. This week the schedule between Tallinn and Stockholm was further strengthened by adding late-night flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and additional mid-day flights on Thursdays and Sundays. By that Estonian Air is operating up to 4 daily flights between Tallinn and Stockholm, providing our customers with increased flexibility.

In March Estonian Air operated 1067 flights, which is 327 more flights y-o-y and 102 more than in February.

The regularity of Estonian Air was 98.7 % and the 15-minute punctuality was 80.3.%.

The market share of Estonian Air regular flights at Tallinn Airport was in March 44.6%. The overall market share (regular and charter flights) was 41.6%.

The most popular destination in March was Oslo with a spectacular 26% growth y-o-y, followed by Kiev, Moscow, Dublin and Milan where the number of passengers grew by 18, 15, 14 and 11% y-o-y respectively.
