Online marketing is the only way out for hospitality and travel industries struggling with low occupancy rate

29.10.2008
In the turmoil of the global financial crisis, entrepreneurs are constantly on the lookout for options of economising. The Internet as a marketing channel is full of untapped potential also for hospitality and travel industries facing operating under low occupancy. Thus, it is high time to convene the first pan-Baltic e-Marketing and e-Commerce conference in Tallinn. On October 29th, trade seminars will be held for hospitality and travel professionals from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania as well as for participants from other countries. The objective of these seminars is to provide hoteliers and travel professionals with necessary know-how on the use of Internet as a sales channel, helping to lower customer acquisition costs, increase margins and face perspective competition using online marketing with confidence.

“The Internet is a highly suitable sales channel as it provides the customer with a wide choice of options, unprecedented transparency and a clear picture of what is awaiting him at the point of destination. The hospitality and travel businesses of this region have not yet fully unlocked the potential of the comprehensive use of the Internet,” PhoCusWright Global claims (see http://www.phocuswright.com).

This is why e-HotelServices and Exact Holdings are organising a unique e-Business conference for hospitality and travel professionals, focusing on their e-Needs and e-possibilities. The participants meet with six international experts: Mr Linnar Viik, Estonia (Director of Skype Access at Skype Technologies Ltd), Mr Wolfgang Pagl, Germany (Director of Market Management in Eastern Europe for Expedia), Mr. Andrew Pozniak (Travel Industry Leader in the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and African markets, Google Inc.), Mr Stephen Williams, Ireland (Group Marketing & E-Commerce Manager for Fitzgerald Group), Ms Helina Tuvike, Estonia (Director of e-Commerce and Revenue Management for Reval Hotels, the largest pan-Baltic Hotel Chain), Prof Dimitrios Buhalis, Great Britain (Deputy Director of the International Centre for Tourism and Hospitality Research at Bournemouth University) and Ms Iselin Skogland, Great Britain (e-Management entrepreneur, owner at e-HotelServices).

The speakers will take an in-depth look at an electronic approach to sales and marketing by looking at what the big chain and innovation leaders are doing, give hands-on practical advice, and the short term outlook for what can be expected and should be planned for this winter.
