Antique Bicycle Exhibition to Open in Väätsa Manor

The exhibition will showcase 12 bicycles from the 1910s to the 1940s that comprise a small cross section of the two-wheelers that have been used on the Estonian roads in the past. A number of photographs, period advertisements, documents, and other materials will add context to the display.
The Estonian Bicycle Museum is a non-profit association established by private antique technology buffs and collector-restorators in 2010. The goal of the association is to establish a permanent museum in Järva County that would trace the history of the bicycle as a means of transportation in Estonia.
This museum would display a couple of hundred vintage bicycles that already exist in private collections of the individuals who established the non-profit and other antique technology buffs but cannot be viewed by the public. The current exhibition will only cover a small fraction of this treasure trove - establishing a permanent museum depends on finding external support.
On the opening day, Valdo Praust who is one of the leaders of the museum initiative will give a brief presentation on the history of the bicycle in Estonia. Väätsa Manor is open to visitation upon appointment.
