in 1954, the first Newport jazz festival, one of the oldest and most important jazz festivals, was held in New York. Its key words are experimenting compositions and a mixture of styles. Already the first festival included bebop, modern jazz and swing. The salon evening presents songs from 1954-1960, from the repertory and creations of Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk.
