Estonia to spend EUR 210 million on keeping tourists longer

24.08.2006
Estonia is planning to invest EEK 3.3 billion (EUR 210 million) over the next seven years into tourism development. The new national tourism development plan for 2007-2013 sets a goal to find new interesting sights and attractions in Tallinn and outside the city in order to make tourists spend more time in Estonia. The average tourist arrives from Finland in the morning by plane or ship and leaves in the evening. Most tourists spend time in Tallinn's Old Town. Such tourists bring profit to traders in Tallinn as well as to shipping and airline companies, but they do not help hotels or tourist locations outside the capital.
