Ida-Viru County: tourist destination of tomorrow?

27.12.2006
Helen Teesalu writes that for years she had thought that symbols characteristic to Ida-Viru County were oil shale and a lot of Russians, but her prejudices were eliminated at the “Sun rises from Ida-Viru County” conference in December. Ida-Viru is one of the most interesting and controversial Estonian counties. Teesalu participated in a bus excursion that took her to the Kalvi and Saka manor houses, the Valaste falls and the Toila spa. The hills located in Alutaguse are the highest in Estonia, reaching 120 metres.
