Christmas Jazz brings warmth!

Festival Christmas Jazz 2011 offers 20 fantastic concerts at churches, clubs, concert and theatre halls in six Estonian cities from November 24th to December 10th. Musicians will come here from USA, Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany and other countries.

The main performers of Christmas Jazz will be Spanish flamenco artist Ana Salazar, stylish French vocal group Voice Messengers and the leader of loved vocal band M-Pact Britt Quentin, who will give a concert with a new vocal sextet called Estonian Voices.

On the concert „Canta a Edith Piaf“ of the charming Spanish singer-actress-dancer’s Ana Salazar the songs of the beloved chanson-legend Piaf will be heard in Spanish and with the rhythms of flamenco. This time the festival has two master class vocal groups – for the first time in Estonia the French Voice Messengers, following the best traditions of vocal jazz offering delicate harmonies and a thrilling stage show. The young generation of Estonian singers Estonian Voices offers the audience a brand new program. Throughout the year the American singer-arranger Britt Quentin has been giving them guidance and will perform with them at the concerts as well – these concerts are a part of the program of the European Culture Capital Tallinn 2011.

A rising star, Estonian singer from Switzerland Ingrid Lukas, whose second album „Silver Secrets“ comes out in October from Universal, will give a little tour in five Estonian cities.

European top musicians will come to Christmas Jazz with the band Five Senses with the pianist Kristjan Randalu, guitar virtuoso and sound magician Nguyên Lê from France, saxophone duo Shorn-Puntin from Germany and Polish multi-instrumentalist Bodek Janke. The Norwegian creator of the new concept of jazz and keyboard virtuoso Bugge Wesseltoft offers a sweet and quiet traditional Christmas program on piano. The top saxophone player of Finland Mikko Innanen will lead the sextet Gourmet that will play rhythmic and humorous music at the Theater NO99 Jazz Club.

Christmas Jazz also introduces many new projects by Estonian musicians. The new album „Aria“ by Andres Mustonen Crossover Quartet has been internationally well-received, the program at the festival will unite classical music and jazz in the manner of the Christmas spirit. The unique duo of kannel (zither) and guitar by Tuule Kann and Jaak Sooäär will bring to the stage the new songs from their new album. Clarinet and saxophone player Meelis Vind performs with a string quartet adding also Indian sitar and tablas Hanna-Liina Võsa makes her jazz debut at an exclusive concert-dinner at the Sokos Hotel Viru Restaurant „Merineitsi“. At the family concert „Joys Of Winter“ the Estonian Radio singing children will perform songs of winter and Christmas with the band of Siim Aimla, first Estonian Idol winner Birgit Õigemeel and clowns called Piip and Tuut.
