Kuimetsa Doline / ОписаниеA few kilometres from Kuimetsa centre to Vaovere at the foot of Neitsikmäe the road crosses Kuimetsa doline area (under protection) which among the locals are known as “Iida urked.”
In one of the largest and most unique doline areas in Estonia, there are several forms of doline: valleys, craters, concavities, channels, caves. The latter are the largest in Estonia. Five of them are large enough for people to go inside. One of the more interesting ones is a bandstand shaped cave, 12 m long and 8 m wide at the bottom of one of the craters.
The doline area begins about 1 km to the east from the road where the stream coming from Mustsoo absorbed by a crack in the limestone precipice a few meters high. Most doline forms fall between the aforementioned area of absorption and the road. During high tide you can observe in many places the flow of water in limestone cracks and channels or hear the sound of water underground, and during low tide the flow of water is almost invisible.
On the western side of the road, there are fewer doline forms, but one of the largest and most interesting caves should be mentioned, even though it is difficult to get to it.
Super koht, suurvee ajal. Palju suurem elamus kui nõiakaevus, mida rahvas teab. Soovitan avastada! (12.04.2014)
