Tallinn Airport refuses to cut payments for Ryanair

11.08.2006
With the current price levels of Tallinn Airport, Irish low-cost airline Ryanair will not fly to Tallinn, advisor to the Ministry of Economy Oleg Harlamov admitted. But this does not mean that further negotiations are ruled out. Harlamov noted that discussions with Ryanair yesterday were about principles, not sums. Ryanair is requesting a multiple decrease of airport taxes, but this, according to Tallinn Airport Chairman Rein Loik, is out of the question. He said that many international airlines like Lufthansa, KLM and Czech Airlines fly to Tallinn and they are happy with the payments they have to make. It is not realistic that they pay considerably bigger sums than Ryanair – even though this is the case in Riga. The next meeting with the representatives of Ryanair will take place in Tallinn later in August.
