The Ala-Rõuge Guesthouse is situated in Rõuge in Võrumaa.
The building was constructed in 1885 as a manor mill. At first grain had been milled into flour here and later yarn from lamb wool was spun. The building housed a textile factory from 1963 were yarn was also spun and wool headscarves, shawls, blankets and tapestry were manufactured. In 1992 the factory was closed down. Restoration work began in 1998 and the building was turned into a guesthouse.

The Ala-Rõuge Guesthouse is located on the bottom of a valley, verging on one side on a steep valley slope and on the other sides – on the Rõuge River and its reservoir. This recreational area is closed for the night. The building utilises green energy as it has a hydroelectric power plant of its own.

At a distance of 200-500 metres from here you will find:
- Rõuge bus station
- three stores
- post office
- three of the seven lakes of the Rõuge chain of lakes
- Ööbikuorg (Nightingale Valley) starts here with its sights and hiking trails

Accommodation
The Ala-Rõuge Guesthouse has 13 rooms with various options. A total of 16 additional beds can be placed in the rooms if necessary. We have three different bed types: large double bed, single bed and two-level berth. The rooms are designed to enable two persons to share a large room and a bigger company of guests to also be able to stay together.

Meals
Festive tables for up to 130 persons can be arranged subject to advance reservation.

Saunas
The Ala-Rõuge Guesthouse has two saunas. The large sauna in a separate building is a conventional wood-covered home sauna with a big anteroom, good washing facilities and a hot steam room. The large sauna will accommodate up to 12 persons at once. Another sauna complex with showers, Jacuzzi and vapour and steam sauna facilities is in the main building, and it is designed for up to 6 persons.

Seminar room
The seminar room is for up to 100 persons. We have 2 separate rooms for group work activities. The seminar room has a video projector, an overhead projector, a flipchart stand, a TV set and a VCR.
