Tourists like Estonian beer and pork

25.10.2006
Tourists visiting Estonia do not generally know much about the national cuisine. The Estonian Institute of Economic Research questioned 1,000 tourists this summer. They named Estonian fish and meat dishes and beer as being good Estonian food. Tourists named black-blood pudding and pork roast as Estonian national foods but they were not able to connect kefir or kvass with Estonia. However, tourists highly appreciate Estonian beer, vodka and liqueur. The institute says that tourists need to be introduced to nonalcoholic drinks as well, like kvass, juice, kefir and herbal teas. The survey also shows that Russians like Estonian dairy products like yoghurt, milk, butter and curd cheese.
