Piusa to open reserve cave in summer
On March 24, the Piusa “museum cave” was closed due to the danger of collapse. But a nearby cave will probably open for tourists this summer instead. The new cave is about 100 metres away. The head of Orava parish, Ulo Plakso, said that the parish hopes the Piusa caves will bring in some much-needed income from tourists. On March 28, environmentalists, geologists and parish officials meet in Orava to discuss the possibility of opening the new cave for tourists in May. Plakso said that the closed cave would probably reopen after a couple of years.
