Former Boys’ School's Building / Description

The strict neo-renaissance brick building with strong aspirations of post-classicist symmetry was erected in 1870-1875. Alexander Boulevard, which was lined with Dutch poplars, started in front of it and led to the postal road to Riga. There is Pushkin’s oak, which was planted to celebrate the 100th birthday of the poet in 1899, in the courtyard of the school. The foyer and hall of the school were restored in 2000-2002 and look like the original ones. There is a plaque commemorate the heads of state, ministers, etc., who used to study in this school. There is a weeping tree of Jüri Vilms and a bust of Paul Keres in front of the building.
