Tobrova Chapel / Description

The Tobrova Easter or Resurrection Chapel is the main place of interest in the village of Tobrova. The village was first mentioned in 1561. According to the traditional geographical distribution, the village belongs to the Koolina nulk (administrative unit).
The chapel is located next to the only typical Setu farm preserved in the region - the Luikjärve farm. Some structures of the farm were built at the time when the saw was not used in Setumaa, some 150 years ago, and all the corresponding work was performed with the axe. The main distinctive feature of the typical Setu farm is the yard enclosed with buildings, boundary fences and a high gate, comprising the so-called fortress-farm. The farm buildings usually included: a house, hay shed, barn, storehouses, sheds. The sauna and the threshing barn would usually be further away from the house. The roof at first used to be covered with straw, later with shavings.
