Prospects for tourism in old-fashioned Abja
Journalist Ingvar Barenklau writes that there is the scent of past splendours in Abja, in Estonia's Viljandi county, also the home of Estonian presidential candidate Toomas Hendrik Ilves. People in Abja think that the biggest obstacle to development is the condition of the local roads. Rural tourism would be a prospective sector, but that is not possible with such roads. However, Ilves has started developing tourism in Abja; he is currently building a conference hotel on his Arma farm.
